Eastern Water Dragon, Physignathus lesueurii

Lane Cove River National Park, Sydney, Australia, January 2005
Olympus E1 with Sigma 55-200 f/4-5.6 lens, on a tripod

Camilla and I got takeaway and went down to Lane Cove River to eat. At 6.40pm there was hardly anyone else around near the weir - we'd parked outside as the gates shut at 7 - but there were plenty of birds and this gorgeous eastern water dragon. It must have become accustomed to people, because it hardly moved while I wandered around with my new tripod (a Velbon Maxi SF) taking photos. These are my favourites (thumbnails link to larger images).
